Slipping A Cirrus Into Scottsdale

CLICK here to watch the landing in Santa Monica:

To be honest, I'm surprised at how on point my radio talking was considering my exhaustion! This is the visual approach into Scottsdale Airport arriving from Santa Monica, CA. Right before landing, you can see the nose deviate off center to the right for a few seconds. Since the controllers dropped me into the traffic pattern from 6,000 feet, my speed was a little fast and was a little high on the glide slope. The slipped helped me lose altitude quickly and not gain any more speed. Don't forget to subscribe!

Belly Landing in Scottsdale – “Will you Tell my Wife I Love Her?” (LiveATC)

On April 11, 2013, a Piper PA-24 Comanche was inbound to land at Scottsdale Airport (IATA: SCF, FAA: SDL) when the landing gear malfunctioned and failed to extend. The pilot, Mr. Galen Flinn, shared a thought for his wife with the air traffic controller before
performing a perfect gear-up landing. After hearing another pilot complain on frequency about the likely closure of the airport resulting from the emergency landing, Mr. Flinn even offered to attempt the manouver on a taxiway.
An ABC15 news chopper is heard offering assistance over the radio, and caught the landing on video:
