TUI Fly Nordic – 737-800 Cockpit Start up, Taxi, Take off from Lanzarote – BLX638

(6B638/BLX638) 27k rated engines, what an amazing ride! What can I say? My dream came true! Just a few days ago I had the honor of being allowed to sit in the jump seat of the Boeing 737-800 for around 5 full hours, I would like to give a huge huge thank you to the Captain and First Officer, as well as the cabin crew for this experience. If you do end up reading this, it means the world to me!

Onto the details, this was a charter from Lanzarote (ACE) to Gardermoen (OSL) and the flight time was to be around 4h 55m. We arrived around 30 minutes ahead of time. The departure was the VASTO2M from runway 03. In the video you'll be able to observe the pushback, start up, taxi, and a non-engine bleed takeoff. This was one of the most humbling experiences of my life seeing as this is my dream, and I'm very pleased to be able to share it here on YouTube!

Incredible: F-35B vs AV-8B Harrier II Short Takeoff & Vertical Landing

Incredible: F-35B vs AV-8B Harrier II Short Takeoff & Vertical Landing

The F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) variant is the world’s first supersonic STOVL stealth aircraft. It is designed to operate from austere bases and a range of air-capable ships near front-line combat zones. It can also take off and land conventionally from longer runways on major bases. The U.S. Marine Corps' F-35B aircraft reached initial operational capability (IOC) on July 31, 2015, when a squadron of 10 F-35Bs was declared ready for world-wide deployment.

The AV-8B Harrier II is the U.S. military’s only short takeoff, vertical landing jet aircraft in current inventory. Originally flown in the late 1960s, the Harrier has undergone a series of improvements that have increased safety, range and lethality. The AV-8B is a key component of the Marine Corps’ “all STOVL force” concept, allowing Marines to be supported in austere conditions in expeditionary environments.

22,000 pounds of thrust enable the Harrier II to hover like a helicopter, and then blast forward like a jet at near-supersonic speeds. Like every aircraft in the Marine fleet, this aircraft is used for multiple missions, which include attacking and destroying surface and air targets, escorting helicopters, engaging in air-to-air defense, providing reconnaissance and applying offensive and defensive support with its arsenal of missiles, bombs and an onboard 25mm cannon. Offering the versatility to conduct almost any mission, the Harrier II provides the ideal blend of firepower and mobility to effectively counter enemies engaged by our ground forces.

The AV-8B V/STOL strike aircraft was designed to replace the AV-8A and the A-4M light attack aircraft. The Marine Corps requirement for a V/STOL light attack force has been well documented since the late 1950s. Combining tactical mobility, responsiveness, reduced operating cost and basing flexibility, both afloat and ashore, V/STOL aircraft are particularly well suited to the special combat and expeditionary requirements of the Marine Corps. The AV-8BII+ features the APG-65 radar common to the F/A-18, as well as all previous systems and features common to the AV-8BII.

The AV-8B will soon be replaced by the F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter.

Amazing Short Take-Off Gulfstream G650 – Special Livery

The Gulfstream G650 has a truly astonishing performance what can be seen in the video. The G650 achieved an impressive short take-off distance at Bern Airport in Switzerland. The two powerful Rolls-Royce BR725 engines accelerate the G650 nearly to the speed of sound while cruising at up to 51,000 feet (15,500 m). The first Swiss registered G650 HB-IVJ has been given a special livery. It advertises for Baha Mar, the luxury resort of superlatives in the Bahamas.

REVERSE THRUST
The pilots engaged the reverse thrust during taxi to slow down the plane. Why didn't they use the wheel brakes instead? The reverser helps to keep the wheel brakes cool and fully operational when needed. Braking excessively does not only wear out the brakes more quickly but increases the danger of glowing hot wheel brakes. Cooling them down takes plenty of time until the aircraft is allowed take off again.

GULFSTREAM G650
The Gulfsream Aerospace G650 is marketed as the world's current fastest business jet with a top speed of 0.925 Mach (982 km/h). It is capable of traveling 8'055 miles (12,964 km) and will even cruise at 51,000 ft. The remarkable jet is equipped with two powerful Rolls-Royce BR725 turbofan engines. Enjoy the great engine sound and the close-up view of the Gulfstream G650, one of the best private jets on the market.

Slipping A Cirrus Into Scottsdale

CLICK here to watch the landing in Santa Monica:

To be honest, I'm surprised at how on point my radio talking was considering my exhaustion! This is the visual approach into Scottsdale Airport arriving from Santa Monica, CA. Right before landing, you can see the nose deviate off center to the right for a few seconds. Since the controllers dropped me into the traffic pattern from 6,000 feet, my speed was a little fast and was a little high on the glide slope. The slipped helped me lose altitude quickly and not gain any more speed. Don't forget to subscribe!
